CARMEL, IN – May 2, 2022 – Five employees of Arland Communications in Carmel are being hired by video production and creative agency Phelps Creative House, after branching out from the firm that has long specialized in business-to-business video production services and communications projects for a wide variety of consumer technology firms and associations.

Butler University graduate Dave Arland (Butler class of 1985) today announced that he reached agreement to sell Arland Communications’ video production and creative services division to newly-formed Phelps Creative House in Indianapolis, headed by Joshua Phelps (Butler class of 2013.)  Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Over the past fifteen years, we have built Arland Communications to become a trusted resource for our stable of communications clients.  From trade shows to association management and video production, our clients such as the Consumer Technology Association, the Advanced Television Systems Committee, and the Indiana Broadcasters Association continue to rely on our team to deliver outstanding services,” said Dave Arland, whose first projects at Arland Communications started with the January 2008 Consumer Electronics Show.

“Whether on the convention show floor in Las Vegas or planning events and videos for clients throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia, I am grateful that our team has burnished our reputation for high-quality productions that are thoughtfully created and mindful of limited budgets.  Even during the pandemic, we quickly shifted to learn new skills in live-streaming on virtually every platform to help our clients reach their customers and members.  Hiring Joshua Phelps as he graduated from Butler was one of the most significant moves we made at Arland Communications, and today I am pleased to help Joshua launch his dream – an agency with his name over the door and a talented team of employees who will carry video communications to a new level,” Arland said.  “I look forward to moving from employer to client, and I know that we’ll continue to utilize the talented team that Joshua has assembled at Phelps Creative House.”

“I am so grateful to have spent nearly a decade working together with Dave. The mentorship and trust that he has given is invaluable and has been essential in getting me to where I am today. And as tough as the closing of this chapter is for us both, I’m so excited for what this next one will bring, especially knowing that we will still continue working together as part of a strategic relationship,” said Phelps. “The creative team is now eager to focus on pushing our creativity in the video production space to produce the most impactful content for our clients.”

Phelps Creative House, which after the purchase, retains meaningful partnerships with the current Creative Services clients including Global Fortune 500 companies, opens this week with offices in Broad Ripple.

Arland Communications remains in operation in Carmel with three employees and clients including the Indiana Broadcasters Association, Hoosiers for Renewables, the Advanced Television Systems Committee, the Pearl TV broadcaster group, and Idaho’s Edge Networks.
